Envirolet Waterless Remote in Vermont - "LOVE IT!"

Bill and Mary in Vermont were kind enough to send some photos and comments about their Envirolet Waterless Remote Composting Toilet System… and they "LOVE IT!" They write:

"Hi,

SOooooo we decided, after a lot of research, to go with the Envirolet. AND LOVE IT! NO smells…. LOOKS normal (even when you lift the lid). Our house guests have had no problems. I have a cute little canister with the daily mix and signs on how to put two scoops a day 'down the hatch'. Along with signs on using the tp.
Toilet itself is on the second floor with the base directly below on the first floor in the utility room. Again, no smells. I have a tassel on the rake bar with another note on how to give it a couple pulls once a day.

"First year with the Flushsmart system, a great addition to our new cabin. Simple, elegant, and well designed, also makes the trip to outhouse in the middle of night something you don't need to do anymore.

Connected to our rain water reservoir system the the toilet and compost tank work perfect. No worries about a septic freezing in the Winter, or having to have a truck get to our cabin to pump out a tank. I think this is a great solution for most cabins. Certainly use me a reference."

Envirolet Waterless Remote in Minneapolis

Envirolet in BC Cabin

Thanks to Lyn and Brad for their photos and testimonial about their Envirolet MS10 waterless composting tolet system in British Columbia. They write:

"Our family has a cabin at Sproat Lake, outside of Port Alberni, BC.

After much consideration (and taking into account, 'my' fear of things that go bump in the night), "Envirolet" proved to be the answer to the long trek in the dark, up the hill to the outhouse.

We have included a picture of the shower-shed, and also a picture of one of the uninvited guests that frequent our property. The bears are so silent and appear when you least expect them. This year the bears are especially active along the lakeside, as the lake is home to a large run of Sockeye Salmon come into the lake for spawning - the run was counted at 800,000 fish. 'Buffet' is open!"

We received some awesome comments and photos from Ed in Ontario about his Envirolet Low Water Remote System installation. The first sentence says it all: "Envirolet we love you!!" Read it all below.

“Envirolet we love you!!

Eight years ago we bought a cottage in what is called an environmentally challenged area. The place had a great location close to the water and near town BUT all the neighbors had outhouses. The problem was low elevation and high water table making septic systems out of the question.

I searched the internet and found Envirolet. We checked it out at the Toronto Cottage Life Show and were sold.

Installation was EASY and PRETTY QUICK ( like 6 hours !!!!!). We had a very small bedroom/bunk room that we could squeeze in a toilet, shower and small vanity . The Envirolet low water toilet went in no time and we just set the outside unit on a few patio tiles and ran an extension cord to it. That night was bliss. No going out in the middle of the night to use the outhouse!!!!!!!!

The next morning I realized that we had added thousands to the value of our cottage for very little work and helped the environment by doing away with the outhouse.

As you can see we have built a small shed over the outside part and everyone thinks it is a garden shed.

We have had no problems with this system and it is soooo easy to maintain.”

Not many products out there last almost 20 years. But, this is a great testimonial sent in by Peter and Manuelita in Ontario shows that Envirolet does. The photos are of their second Envirolet MS10 waterless composting toilet system. Their first MS10 was used for 18 years.

When I drew up the plans and built our retreat in the mountains (Crystal Creek Camp) nothing was thrown together or done second rate, but done as best as I could. I am sending some snapshots. "Hi Envirolet readers:

5 years ago (or so) our family built a bunkhouse at our cottage in Parry Sound, Ontario.

Due to the fact that it is built on rock and cannot support a septic bed in that area, after much research and deliberation we installed a grey water system and decided on purchasing an Envirolet Self Contained system. This unit is surprisingly easy to clean, operate and maintain. It is amazingly quiet, but most importantly, the heaters and fans in this unit ensure that there is never any odor, and that the compost is easily disposed of.

In those 5 years (or so), we have not had any difficulty or maintenance issues with our unit, and we're certain that if were in a position to purchase yet another composting toilet - Envirolet would most certainly be our brand of choice once again."

Envirolet Waterless Remote in Minnesota

Here's another Non-Electric Envirolet Waterless Remote installation to join the hundreds of others. This excellent Envirolet composting toilet system review and collection of installation photos was sent in by Cliff in Minnesota. Envirolet provided the solution in an application where septic was going to be too expensive.

"We purchased the Envirolet remote toilet about four (4) years ago. Initially it was installed without a bathroom in the cabin and we just put a temporary wall around it for privacy. Everyone (especially the women) was thankful we could actually go to the bathroom in the cabin instead of using a rock or log. This year we finally completed the bathroom in the cabin and we can’t be more pleased.

Our cabin is located on Lake Vermillion in northern Minnesota. The cabin is lake access only with no electricity, water, or septic system. It would not be cost effective for us to put in a septic system because there really isn’t a way to get equipment in the right location to do the work. We were going to put in the traditional outhouse but couldn’t because we kept hitting a rock shelf about three (3) down and we couldn’t get government approval to proceed. The Envirolet toilet was the way to go as it eliminated the septic system and rock shelf problem. Thanks."

Envirolet Waterless Remote in Ontario

Check out this nice Envirolet review and collection of installation photos we received from Daniella and Graham in Ontario. They have a Non-Electric Envirolet Waterless Remote Composting Toilet System (with 12VDC Turbo Fan installed in the vent line).

"Hello,

Here are a few pictures of our waterless remote non- electric toilet installed on our property near Haliburton, Ontario 4 years age. We have had no problems with it. There is no smell, even at the height of summer warm weather and high usage. We did install the exhaust fan in the chimney, attached to a 12V battery and solar panel, to increase the capacity.

We own a piece of property west of Haliburton. Since we currently have no cottage a composting toilet has been a great addition and environmentally friendly alternative to an outhouse. We have found the maintenance to be minimal (empty twice/ year) and appreciate how easy it is to clean. The best part is that there is no smell (actually less than a conventional washroom!).

All of our visitors love it, especially compared to a "normal" outhouse.
